I knit. I also live in very hot place. Like right now? Right now, at just after 8 o'clock on a lovely May evening, it is still 88 degrees out! In May! In the evening! Hot! Bad! (Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of hot weather?) It is currently almost 20 degrees warmer than the weather in my hometown. Ah, nostalgia...
But wait! Where was I? Ah, yes, knitting in the summer in Texas. Previously, I've always just left off knitting around April or so and picked it back up come fall. But this year I'm a little more involved in knitting than I used to be (thank you, Ravelry) so I've been needing to find summer-friendly knits to work on for the next few months. One of them, recently completed, is this sleeveless sweater!

The pattern is Picovoli by Grumperina and the yarn is KnitPicks Shine Sport. The pattern is quite simple and makes a nice little sleeveless sweater that I can still wear when its 90+ degrees outside! And the yarn is luscious - especially for the price. It's a cotton/modal blend and it feels so soft and huggy when you put it on. I had to stop myself from feeling my sweater all day so my coworkers wouldn't think I'm nuts...or at least more than they already do! (Of course, now KnitPicks has some gorgeous new colors that I like even better than my blue. What's a girl to do? Maybe I'll knit another one!)
I've got another couple of sleeveless things on the agenda for the summer, as well as some socks and a lace-weight scarf. Basically anything small and/or lightweight is perfect for hot summer knitting. I'm hoping that I can get some Christmas socks out of the way this summer, and then, once this dreadful heat breaks, I can start a cardigan or a Clapotis (finally!) or something large and drape-y to keep me warm this freezing Texas winter. Oh. Never mind.
THANKS!
