I just wanted to share the state of my homemade pantry. (In other words, stuff I put in jars and keep in the cabinet over the sink.) It makes me so happy just to look at it. Sometimes I open it just to gaze upon its loveliness. (Seriously. Does that make me weird?) It's a lifestyle choice - spend the extra time and energy now to make something delicious for future enjoyment. The possibilities are endless! I might make pickles this weekend, if I can get hold of a bunch of wee cukes. I've been feeling the need to add to my cabinet of goodies.
This past week has been a week of food firsts, which I think I'll post about this weekend. It's been exciting! Here's one:

Can you guess what they are? I'll give you a hint: they'll go really well with some of the items in the first photo! Yum!
I don't think it's weird at all - it's just like admiring a hand knit. My mom used to can things and make her own jam (including red currant, my fave) when I was a kid and I really miss it. My kitchen is a bit tiny for tackling such a project, but I am definitely trying to get away from eating packaged foods as much as possible. As for what you're making, I'm guessing scones? Fabulous fresh out of the oven, and so simple to make!

Your canning is beautiful! My mom and grandma used to do it and I'd love to learn how to make my own jelly and pickles.

Seeing bottles with colorful things inside it would delight my eyes to. I feel that my interest for cooking arose again.
