Today I started my new job! It is the first full-time position I've had since finishing grad school at the end of last summer. (I've been working two part-times...yuck.) So now I get to stay put in one place all day and not use my lunch hour to commute. I get to knit more at lunch too! I get to work in a place I like with great people. I get health insurance! It means a substantial pay raise. (Yay!) I also won't feel like a huge professional failure anymore! (Double yay!)
So what am I going to do with all that extra money? (Besides roll around in a big pile of cash, that is.) Well, there's a whole lot of grown-up stuff I'll be doing, like saving for a very distant retirement and attempting to chip away at the crushing load of student loan debt I've somehow gotten myself into. But I'm also going to learn to do something that up until now I have not been very good at, mostly because I don't have the opportunity to practice. I'm going to take sewing lessons! And maybe, just maybe, get my very own sewing machine. Yay!
